"Probitas et Scientia: Goodness and Knowledge"

The history of Cathedral High School dates back to 1912 when a Catholic High School was established for boys at St. Patrick's School. With immigration the demand for Catholic education increased significantly. In 1928 a new building was constructed at the corner of Emerald and Main Streets, which came to be known as Cathedral High School. As demands increased for a school for Catholic girls, a building was constructed in 1955 on Main Street known as Cathedral Girls' High School. The most recent evolution of Cathedral High School was in 1995 with the opening of the new state of the art facility on Wentworth Street North that combined both Boys' and Girls' Schools.

Cathedral offers the traditional courses at the Academic, Applied and Locally Developed stream. There are specialized courses in the technology area such as computer, auto, electrical, construction, drafting, graphics and cosmetology. There are additional courses in the arts, drama, photography, music and fashion design. Other courses such as cooperative education and OYAP explore the pathway to the world of work. Students are able to complete their French Immersion program at Cathedral. An ESL laboratory is available to help students quickly achieve a fluency in English. Focus courses such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and hockey complete the spectrum of choices offered at Cathedral.

Cathedral has a diverse population with courses to support student needs. It is a school anchored in the Catholic faith traditions. Even though the school has undergone changes in location the Cathedral tradition of caring, compassion, service and striving for excellence still continues today.
