What to expect in grade 9

The hallways are noisy and chaotic. The school is larger with hundreds more students and you are no longer the biggest kid in the school.  There are many more co-instructional activities to get involved with.

Did you know that the number one reason why students do not graduate is that they have not completed their 40 hours of Christian Service?

High school has several paths: school to career, apprenticeship, college and university. The goal in 9th grade is to start down the path most likely to be a good fit. But it’s possible to switch paths in 10th grade. It’s also possible to take some courses in the academic program and others in the applied. In 9th grade, you should focus on figuring out the right path while still leaving time for a social life and family. Your guidance counsellor will help you to assemble a schedule that is balanced and includes the right core courses and electives that match your goals. To help you sort it all out, high schools have a student success teacher, guidance counsellors and special education which offer support services to 9th graders.
