The Specialist High Skills Major offers students in this program an opportunity to focus their learning on one of eight economic sectors that is significant to the Hamilton-Wentworth region— Arts and Culture, Business, Construction, Energy, Health and Wellness, Hospitality and Tourism, Non-Profit, and Transportation. All students enrolled in this career-focused program will meet the requirements for their secondary school diploma (OSSD) and will be better prepared to make the transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.

As baby boomers retire, organizations will be looking to fill a large number of vacancies with a shrinking pool of highly skilled younger workers.
